"Lead the parade with our banners" and Simply Sunday Challenge @ Getting Cricky with K Andrew

Hi everyone!

It's my first assignment with the Getting Cricky with K Andrew Design Team.  I'm so excited!!!!  This week's challenge is to create something with a pennant or banner.

Psalm 20:5 says "When you win, we plan to raise the roof and lead the parade with our banners. May all your wishes come true!"  (taken from The Message a paraphrase of the Bible)

God did something amazing in our lives a couple of months ago and when it happened all I wanted to do was "raise the roof" and a banner to give God glory.  It was something only He could do!  On top of that, the timing was incredible.  Our life has been very difficult the last few months and so for God to send this ray of Sonshine was glorious!  Things are getting better day by day and I must remember that God's banner over me is love and I must continue to celebrate and raise up a banner!

Now for my project:

This was easy for me because I am currently working with a young lady from my former church who is graduating from high school.  I am known by my church friends as the "go to person" when it comes to scrapbooking, cardmaking, etc.  Anyway, my young friend asked me if I would help her make some trifold displays for her graduation party.  Of course I said "YES!"  It blesses me when I can be a blessing to someone else with the talents the Lord has given me even if I don't consider myself talented :)

I had all these elaborate plans for her display (mini albums, layouts, embossing, you name it) until she showed up with her pictures, LOTS of pictures; three trifolds full of pictures!  Since it is "her "graduation party display I guess I should let her make all the decisions concerning her displays.  Imagine that!  LOL! I keep telling her mom that :)  She cropped and laid out her pictures and I squeezed in some embellishments.  Pennants was the way to go with a few rosettes here an there.

Cricut cartridge used for this trifold:
Cricut Birthday Bash

paper rosettes
Cricut cartridges used: for this trifold:
Cricut Gypsy Font
Cricut Gypsy Wanderings

trifold of her family (this was the first one I made)

We have one more display to finish. That one is titled "Through the years"  I will probably make a banner across the top since there will be quite a few pictures for that one too!  This girl knows how to raise a banner to her friends and family! Congrats Mariah!

Supplies:
Sctotch Dot Adhesive
Printed Cardstock: g.c.d. studios Eye Candy (isn't that a fun name?)
(This paperpack was purchased at Big Lots. $5 for 24 double sided textured cardstock)
Solid cardstock is from my stash of paper that I have accumulated through the years.
Brown ribbon from Michaels
Hemp cord from Big Lots
Background paper on "Friends" display is wrapping paper I picked up at Michaels.
It matched perfectly but a pain to cover the board.

So...how did I do for my first assignment? Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to stop by Getting Cricky with K Andrew's blog to take part in the challenge and to see more creations by the design team. Also, "raise the roof" and your banners!!!

Easter Goodies for our new "babies"!

Ok....long story, short.  We reconnected with our oldest son (It's been 7 years.)  As a result of this blessing, we gained an additional 4 family members: his wife, his two sons and one more on the way!!!!  It is exhilarating to be more then a grandma by title only!!!

Of course, I had to put together some goodies for the "babies".  We haven't met them yet but we will soon!!! They live in Hawaii and we get to go visit them!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Hawaii here we come!!!

Here are the baskets I made for the boys.
one of the sides to the basket. I messed up and deleted one of the side pictures, oh well
another side to Ethan's basket. He is one.
I was informed that the baby loves his Weebles.
I came across these at Walmart and you know what? Of course! I had to buy them!

Collin is 7 and his daddy is in the military.   He loves all things military therefore the military theme.

filled and finished-too cute!!!
love those Peachy Keen stamps-they just makes me smile :)
I used my Cricut Expression, vinyl and the following cartridges: Stand and Salute, Paper Pups, Stretch Your Imagination, Straight From The Nest and I think it was Making the Grade for the names.  I purchased the baskets at Target along with some of the goodies inside the baskets.  The basket bags are from the Dollar Tree.  The ribbon is from Michaels. The tags were made using Doodlecharms, Peachy Keen Everyday Faces and some Stampin' Up! Ink and Chalk. I almost forgot, I used a Creative Memories punch for the stars and starburst cuts.

Oh how fun it was designing the cuts on the my Gypsy but the most satisfying was envisioning the smiles on their sweet faces.  I posted on Facebook that I was making goodies for the "babies" and my nineteen year old asked if she still qualified?  Lol! I told her she is always one of my babies!
 Gotta love it!

Let me know what you think of my story and my creations.  Love to know that others are stopping by and this is not just being posted to the "air"  :)

Craft Area Before and After Cleanup/Organization

Happy New Year friends, a few days late.  It has been a little crazy with a little bit of illness.  I started this video on New Year's day but had to stop becasue I caught a slight bug.  I finished a couple of days later.  My craft area was in much need of cleaning after the Christmas crafting chaos (can you relate?) plus, I got a Cricut Expression for Christmas so I had to make some room and decide the best place for it.  I still need to figure out the best way to organize my paper.  Any suggestions?  Its a never ending problem. I'm happy witth the results after the cleaning.  Of course, I started working on a birthday card organizer that I've been wanting to try to make so my desk is a little messy right now, again! lol!  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my space.  Leave me some suggestions and comments.

Christmas gifts-glass blocks and glitter ornaments

Boy! I have been a busy crafter today finishing up Christmas gifts for my nephews and great niece.  I made them each a gloss block night light. I am pretty darn proud of how they turned out.

I used Armor Etch etching cream to etch the blocks. The cartridges I used were: Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons and Paper Pups.  I also used Cricut vinyl and the i-rock for the bling on the crown.  I don't remember the cartridge name for the crown.  I'm being lazy right now and not wanting to look it up. :)

These are for my nephew who are DC Comic fans.  These are not completely finished, I need put in the lights and decide how I will cover the sides since bows wouldn't be appropriate. I don't think Batman would wear a bow. Working with vinyl is pretty fun but these intricate cuts are like putting together a puzzle.  My boys are worth it!

I also made glitter ornaments for my twins' teachers.  I have a few more of these to make in the next day or so but so glad these are done since school is out on Friday. They each have the teacher's last name initial, year and a snowflake.  Oh, and a little bling too.

Hope I've inspired someone to start crafting. Leave me a little love if you like what you see by leaving a comment.  It makes me smile.

Busy making birthday cards!!

November is full of birthdays! I have a list going of all the birthday cards I want to make.  Here are three I made over the last two days.
The cake was cut from Cricut Doodlecharms using the Gypsy to cut the layers/contours. The birthday greeting was cut using Cricut Gypsy Wanderings and I used Stickles to add some glitz.

This card is similar to the first one except I left out the candles.  I used the Cuttlebug Swirls folder to emboss the cake.  I chose not to use the shadow feature. I also sprayed the cake with Glimmer Mist.

This card was made using Cricut Smiley available only on the Gypsy. I played around with the layers trying to figure out the order and colors  She turned out cute!  I'm sure one of friends will love this one.  I also used my iRock to add some bling to the party hat.

All of my paper is paper I have had on hand for some time.
Still have several more cards to make.  I will post soon.  Tomorrow: a wedding card and gift.
Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by.  Leave a comment if you like what you see.

Loving this Cricut Vinyl!

I came across a great find today at the local thrift store.  2 - 12x12 frames $3.00 each!!! What a steal!!! Here is a picture of what I had in the works and now it is complete. I must say I am very proud of my latest creation.  If you would like one to give as a gift let me know.  Makes an excellent wedding/anniversary gift. One stipulation, the frame is on you!  (Unless, I find more steals!!!)

This is the frame I found.
I sanded and painted the frame and inserted my creation.
My finished artwork!
I used Cricut Vinyl and Gypsy Font and linoleum tile.
