I got a Cricut Expression!!

My little boy gave me the hat :)
I hope everyone had a great Christmas.  Boy! Was I surprised when after all the gifts were given and opened, my husband said he had one more "Expression" of his love.  He gave me Plum Cricut Expression!!!! He was naughty because he went over our budgeted amount but he was also, oh so....., good.  I have had my baby bug for many years. When the expression came out I didn't think I had any use for it but as I continued to use my baby bug and then started to see the potential if I owned an Expression, I had to have one.  I could have purchased one a couple of months ago but I had a weak moment and bought a puppy. Silly me, what was I thinking (or better yet, not thinking?) Hence, I had no money for an Expression.  What a great guy I have!!! He is so patient and loving. Thank you David!!!

Here is a picture of my puppy. I bought him in October.  Many times during the last few months of puppy training, I have said to myself "I could have had an Expression already if I hadn't bought this puppy!"  Puppy training is not fun.  It's a good thing he is awfully cute.My daughter has become his best friend!  His name is Chico.

I can't wait til the kids go back to school so I can start playing with my new toys!!! I can't get much done when they are home. Can you relate?  Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas from Cleveland, Ohio

Just wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! It has been a great year and looking forward to what the Lord may have in store of 2011.  I have truly enjoyed exploring the world of blogging. I hope to learn more in the next year and develop my skills as a crafter and blogger so I can share what I love to do! Thanks to those that have chosen to follow my blog.  I don't aspire to become the most popular blogger but it is nice to know that someone took the time to look and read about what I have created.  Enjoy this season with your loved ones.

Baby's 1st Christmas Ornaments

My cousin had twins earlier this year, two adorable little girls.  These babies were miracle babies because she wasn't supposed to be able to have anymore babies.  God blessed them with Alliana and Gylliana.  I made them these adorable ornaments!  Big brother is getting one too; it;s just not finished yet.

I used the Gypsy Font on my Gypsy, and Cricut vinyl.. Ribbon was on hand. Purchased the glitter at Joann's.  Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment.  Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas gifts-glass blocks and glitter ornaments

Boy! I have been a busy crafter today finishing up Christmas gifts for my nephews and great niece.  I made them each a gloss block night light. I am pretty darn proud of how they turned out.

front side

back side

I used Armor Etch etching cream to etch the blocks. The cartridges I used were: Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons and Paper Pups.  I also used Cricut vinyl and the i-rock for the bling on the crown.  I don't remember the cartridge name for the crown.  I'm being lazy right now and not wanting to look it up. :)

These are for my nephew who are DC Comic fans.  These are not completely finished, I need put in the lights and decide how I will cover the sides since bows wouldn't be appropriate. I don't think Batman would wear a bow. Working with vinyl is pretty fun but these intricate cuts are like putting together a puzzle.  My boys are worth it!

I also made glitter ornaments for my twins' teachers.  I have a few more of these to make in the next day or so but so glad these are done since school is out on Friday. They each have the teacher's last name initial, year and a snowflake.  Oh, and a little bling too.

Hope I've inspired someone to start crafting. Leave me a little love if you like what you see by leaving a comment.  It makes me smile.

2010 Christmas Cards-Ready to go!

I spent a good part of my day today making this year's Christmas cards.  I saw Robyn, from My Pink Stamper, use pink and light green on her Christmas card and loved it!!! LOVED IT! Found some pretty paper at Archivers (didn't document the name of the paper.). Perfect for what I wanted to do.  Landed on a design and started the production line. After about 20 cards, I needed a change so I tried a few different layouts/designs  Here are the results.  Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.  Thanks for stopping by.

This was the first card and most were made using this design. This was cut using the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge.
I skipped the outline cut and used my gel pen to make the lines and dots..
Used the Swirl emboss folder and Creative Memories white chalk ink to make the swirls pop.
This was my first design using the Cricut Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge.  The holly had too many layers for so many cards so I decided to go with the holly from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge.
The wreath was cut using the Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge.  Again, to0 many cuts to make a lot of cards so on to the next one.
Now, I really liked this one, alot!  But, I was almost done with the my cards so this was just for fun! Next year, I think. This was cut from the Christmas cartridge.  I got this as a free download on my Gypsy.
I wanted something simple so I cut the scalloped circle using the Celebrations cartridge.  I used the Gypsy to delete the hole from the top of the tag, embossed, chalked and used my gel pen to add the dots.
.  Very simple.
 Same design but different layout.
This was the simplest of them all and I really like it.  Sometimes simple is better.
I embossed the card front with the Swirls folder.

I used the Cuttlebug Swirls folder,  Emboss Winter Jelly folders, Creative Memories Chalk Ink (white), Stickles, ribbon from Joann's and cardstock and matching envelopes are from a local paper supply store.  The sentiment was printed using my printer.

Another Smiley Birthday Card- Love this cartridge!!!!

If you don't own a Gypsy, now is the time to buy one.  I hear Michaels is selling them on Black Friday for $99.00!  That is an amazing deal! Also, Provocraft is offering a bundle package with the Cricut Personal machine and the Gypsy for $219.00.   If you buy the Gypsy and register by December 31, 2010 you will also get 5 free cartridges from Provocraft.  These are not literal cartridges but downloads to your Gypsy.  If you are thinking about it now is the time!

Anyway, I said all of that because Provocraft had an update recently that included 6 free downloads and the Smiley cartridge was one of them.  This cartridge is turning out to be so much fun!  Here is the most recent card I made.  I have a few more in the works.  Pictures will be posted soon.

I used the cakes shadow feature twice,  flipped one so the shape will be identical when it is folded and then welded it at the candles.  Scored it at the tips of the candles and there you go a card shaped like a birthday cake.  First time for me.  I used Stickles for the bling.  The paper is just from my stash.  It maybe old Stampin' Up! paper.

Let me know what you think in the comment box.  Thanks for stopping by! Ta-ta for now.

Busy making birthday cards!!

November is full of birthdays! I have a list going of all the birthday cards I want to make.  Here are three I made over the last two days.
The cake was cut from Cricut Doodlecharms using the Gypsy to cut the layers/contours. The birthday greeting was cut using Cricut Gypsy Wanderings and I used Stickles to add some glitz.

This card is similar to the first one except I left out the candles.  I used the Cuttlebug Swirls folder to emboss the cake.  I chose not to use the shadow feature. I also sprayed the cake with Glimmer Mist.

This card was made using Cricut Smiley available only on the Gypsy. I played around with the layers trying to figure out the order and colors  She turned out cute!  I'm sure one of friends will love this one.  I also used my iRock to add some bling to the party hat.

All of my paper is paper I have had on hand for some time.
Still have several more cards to make.  I will post soon.  Tomorrow: a wedding card and gift.
Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by.  Leave a comment if you like what you see.

Loving this Cricut Vinyl!

I came across a great find today at the local thrift store.  2 - 12x12 frames $3.00 each!!! What a steal!!! Here is a picture of what I had in the works and now it is complete. I must say I am very proud of my latest creation.  If you would like one to give as a gift let me know.  Makes an excellent wedding/anniversary gift. One stipulation, the frame is on you!  (Unless, I find more steals!!!)

This is the frame I found.
I sanded and painted the frame and inserted my creation.
My finished artwork!
I used Cricut Vinyl and Gypsy Font and linoleum tile.

Think Pink Week Challenge

This week at My Pink Stamper, Robyn challenged us to create something with pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness and some specific ladies she knows that are struggling with cancer.  We all have or have had people in our lives that have struggled with cancer.  Let's show our support to them by "Thinking Pink". Below is the "Think Pink" ribbon I made.  I'm a little disappointed with it because my laminator/magnet maker crinkled the material.  I was trying to make this without going out and spending any money.  I didn't have any pink vinyl so I used what I had on hand.  Not bad for a newbie, huh?  It's the thought that counts right?

I used the Cricut Geoege and Basic Shapes, Cricut Cutting Up, Xyron 510 Magnet/laminator.

A sad, sad story of a once beautiful ornament

On Saturday night I was busy at work making baby shower favors (see previous post for details).  Once done with the favors, I decided to make a "Baby's 1st Christmas" ornament as a gift to the baby.  I was so proud of my creation, I wanted to take a picture of it to post. (Somewhere in the Bible it says, "pride comes before the fall.")  Well, I carefully tied a piece of ribbon so I can hang it to take my picture.  You guessed it.....I dropped it and glitter was everywhere and so my beautiful ornament was now a damaged ornament. Not worthy to be called a gift any longer. What a horrible feeling!  Such joy, such pride, such elation over my creation to be destroyed in an instant! boo-hoo-hoo! It was late (for me) and I didn't have the energy to try and make another one.
Here is a picture of the damaged ornament.

I will try to salvage the vinyl and use it on another.  YES! There will be another, and another.  I will not be brought down by one broken ornament.  (I will be experimenting with plastic ornaments next.)

Baby Shower Favors

I had the pleasure to help a friend with favors for her future grand-baby's shower.  She bought the bottles and filled them with hot cocoa mix.  She sent me a picture text of the bottles and said "this needs something."  I quickly volunteered to embelish them  Below is a picture of the finished product.  I had so much fun making them!  Notice the little touch of color on the baby's cheeks?  Too cute!  Anyone else out there need favors for a future occassion.  Give me time, and for a reasonable fee, I can accomodate.  Just email me.

On this favor, I used the Cricut Stretch Your Imagination cartridge, Cuttlebug embossing folders and Stampin' Up! markers and chalk.

Can you see what I changed on the glass block?

I can be rather obsessive at times.  I love the original glass block I made but there were just a few things bothering me about it so I corrected it.  Can you tell what it is?  Leave a comment if you do.

i-rock - My new embellishment toy

I just purchased a new toy. I was in one of those moods to try something new. So I headed to Michaels with coupons in hand and got a GREAT deal! Never pay full price. At first I found the i-rock tool only. As I browsed around the store I found another package that included a container of Glam Rocks for the same price. Well, you know what I did right? Put the other one back. The deal just got sweeter. I first saw the i-rock as one of the items on HSN. (I'm not an HSN shopper but that day Provocraft was launching their new Cricut Imagine and I had to see what that was all about. The Cricut Imagine is for another topic.) The I-rock heat sets little gems on many types of medium like paper, fabric, wood, glass, etc.

Here are some pictures of the i-rock tool and the glam rocks.

It adds a touch of sparkle to the page.
