Creations with Christina 12 month Scrapbook Challenge-March

This is my entry for Creations with Christina Scrapbook challenge. I was able to sit and scrapbook for a little while since I had a sick kid at home.  I sooooooo want to finish this album!!! 2007 was a crazy year! Come to think of it, all the years following have been crazy since we adopted two special needs children!!!  All the more reason to get caught up so I don't forget all the good times through the craziness.  I don't like the feeling of being behind.  So many good pictures to crop!

What I need to do is focus more on the scrapbook and less on the blogging/challenges/blog hops, etc.  I'm sure you all know what I am talking about, right?  But.....it's so much fun and it gets our creative juices flowing and the credit card machines processing!!!  LOL!!!

Any hoot, here are my layouts.  Sorry the pictures came out a little crooked.  One of these days I'll invest in a 12 x 12 scanner but only if I can find a steal!!!

On this first two page layout I used DCWV Christmas paper, EK Success border punch. sparkly ribbon I bought for Christmas cards that I never used, White Sakura gel pen, Creative Memories brown fine tip pen,Stickles, Creative Memories stickers, jewels I bought from $1 bin at Michaels (gotta love that $1 bin!) and cardstock I had on hand.
Cut from Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge
Cut from Gypsy Wanderings (available on Gypsy only)
Cut from Just Because Cards Cartridge

On this second two page layout, I used Creative Memories Winter Reflections Paper. Creative Memories Star punch, Creative Memories Letter/Number stickers; pretty much everything on this layout is from Creative Memoires.

I have one more two page layout to finish off this album.  I decided to put all the birthdays on a two page layout rather then make a layout for each birthday.  This album is pretty much at its limit (capacity-wise) so I needed to condense somehow.  I'll make sure and post it when I'm done. The pictures and paper are waiting on my desk. I hope to get to it in the next couple of days along with a card challenge I want to participate in.

Thanks for stopping by.  Tell me what you think of my layouts.  BTW, thanks for following my blog! I'm blown away that it has grown some!  WOOHOO!!!!

12 month Scrapbook Challenge-February

Christina from Creations with Christina issued a challenge at the beginning of the year to get a layout done a month. I was an over-achiever and did two :)

These pictures are from 2007 and I am almost done with 2007's album.  It was a whirlwind of a year! We added to children to our family in a matter of months so that is why I am so behind but I will get caught up, right? RIGHT!

Church Children's Christmas program

Angel cut using Cricut Christmas cartridge...oops! the 'r' got turned over...sorry, I'll be fixing that!

Christmas morning

I mostly used Creative Memories paper and stickers I had on hand.  I used a few brads here there. Overall a quick couple of layouts

Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for stopping by.  It means so much to me.  All I want to do is share what I do with others that can appreciate the work that goes into our craft.

Broken Heart Card-Smiley Cart.

My pastor and his wife recently lost a baby.  Our heart were broken for them.  Here is the card I made expressing our brokenness for them.  On the inside I will write "...that your heart has been broken."

I used cardstock I have had on hand for a lonnnnng time! The sentiment is from $1 stamp I picked up at Michaels specifically for this card.  It was perfect! I stamped it and cut around the design. The ribbon is from Michaels $1 ribbon bin.  I used the Cuttlebug hearts embossing folder. The broken heart cut is from the Smiley Cartridge available on the Gypsy.

This card was super simple to make.  At first I thought it was too plain but I am happy with it.  It communicates our heart without alot of glitz.  Sometimes simple is better.

What would you have added to the card? Let me know.  Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Pup Birthday Card

Hi everyone! I made this card a few weeks ago for a birthday my daughter was going to but forgot to post it.  I love the Paper Pups Cartridge.  They just make me smile.  This card was so super easy to make.  I used cardstock I had on hand.  Honestly, I don't recall where I got the patterned paper.  I'm learning to keep track of the names of my products I use so I can give credit where credit is due.  The black ribbon was purchased at Joanns. The sentiment is a Stampin Up! stamp.

Thanks for stopping by! TTFN, Scrappymama Elaine

12 Month Scrapbook Challenge Layout

Christina from Creations with Christina issued a challenge earlier this month to complete and post a layout every month.  Here is the link to her post.  Creations with Christina: Scrapbook Challenge I SOOO needed to get back on track with my scrapbooking.

Since discovering the world of blogging, I have been distracted by all the wonderful inspiration afforded to my through the wonderful world of blogging.  BUT, I have been so engrossed in reading posts and entering contests that I have neglected the one thing I love to do with my free time: SCRAPBOOK.  (Can I get a witness?!)  I want to take all this great inspiration and apply it to my scrapbooks and card-making!  In defense, my love for cardmaking has been revived thanks to all the talent on the blogs I follow!  My Christmas cards were great and I've learned to make great, simple cards using my Cricut and stamps!

Below is my layout for this month.  I started this layout back in Thanksgiving of last year.  I hate to admit that the pictures are from 2007! Yikes!  A lot has happened in our family in the last couple of years ad hence the backlog.  Hopefully with this challenge I will get back on track and soon up to date. Wish me luck!

Let me first apologize for the glare on this shot.  I'm not a professional photographer and I still need to learn how to take better pictures of my creations.

On this two page layout I used the following:
Creative Memories Winter Reflections paper pack
Cricut Cartridge Celebrations for the banner pennants
Cricut Christmas Solutions cartridge for the "Christmas" title and the ornament
Creative Memories White mini letter stickers on the banner
Imaginisce i-Rock and gems.
Creative Memories sticker tag
DMC White embroidery floss
 Stickles
Silver star eyelet on the tag

Below are a few close up shots.

If it were not for my blog friends, I would not have thought of the banner, i-Rock, and using the embroidery floss (I couldn't find baker's twine so I used the floss instead. Worked out great!) Thanks bloggers!!!  I think my layout turned out great! It's ready to go in the album, pictures and all! Let me know what you think! I love hearing from others!

Christmas gifts-glass blocks and glitter ornaments

Boy! I have been a busy crafter today finishing up Christmas gifts for my nephews and great niece.  I made them each a gloss block night light. I am pretty darn proud of how they turned out.

back side

I used Armor Etch etching cream to etch the blocks. The cartridges I used were: Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons and Paper Pups.  I also used Cricut vinyl and the i-rock for the bling on the crown.  I don't remember the cartridge name for the crown.  I'm being lazy right now and not wanting to look it up. :)

These are for my nephew who are DC Comic fans.  These are not completely finished, I need put in the lights and decide how I will cover the sides since bows wouldn't be appropriate. I don't think Batman would wear a bow. Working with vinyl is pretty fun but these intricate cuts are like putting together a puzzle.  My boys are worth it!

I also made glitter ornaments for my twins' teachers.  I have a few more of these to make in the next day or so but so glad these are done since school is out on Friday. They each have the teacher's last name initial, year and a snowflake.  Oh, and a little bling too.

Hope I've inspired someone to start crafting. Leave me a little love if you like what you see by leaving a comment.  It makes me smile.

Busy making birthday cards!!

November is full of birthdays! I have a list going of all the birthday cards I want to make.  Here are three I made over the last two days.
The cake was cut from Cricut Doodlecharms using the Gypsy to cut the layers/contours. The birthday greeting was cut using Cricut Gypsy Wanderings and I used Stickles to add some glitz.

This card is similar to the first one except I left out the candles.  I used the Cuttlebug Swirls folder to emboss the cake.  I chose not to use the shadow feature. I also sprayed the cake with Glimmer Mist.

This card was made using Cricut Smiley available only on the Gypsy. I played around with the layers trying to figure out the order and colors  She turned out cute!  I'm sure one of friends will love this one.  I also used my iRock to add some bling to the party hat.

All of my paper is paper I have had on hand for some time.
Still have several more cards to make.  I will post soon.  Tomorrow: a wedding card and gift.
Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by.  Leave a comment if you like what you see.

Loving this Cricut Vinyl!

I came across a great find today at the local thrift store.  2 - 12x12 frames $3.00 each!!! What a steal!!! Here is a picture of what I had in the works and now it is complete. I must say I am very proud of my latest creation.  If you would like one to give as a gift let me know.  Makes an excellent wedding/anniversary gift. One stipulation, the frame is on you!  (Unless, I find more steals!!!)

This is the frame I found.
I sanded and painted the frame and inserted my creation.
My finished artwork!
I used Cricut Vinyl and Gypsy Font and linoleum tile.

Think Pink Week Challenge

This week at My Pink Stamper, Robyn challenged us to create something with pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness and some specific ladies she knows that are struggling with cancer.  We all have or have had people in our lives that have struggled with cancer.  Let's show our support to them by "Thinking Pink". Below is the "Think Pink" ribbon I made.  I'm a little disappointed with it because my laminator/magnet maker crinkled the material.  I was trying to make this without going out and spending any money.  I didn't have any pink vinyl so I used what I had on hand.  Not bad for a newbie, huh?  It's the thought that counts right?

I used the Cricut Geoege and Basic Shapes, Cricut Cutting Up, Xyron 510 Magnet/laminator.

A sad, sad story of a once beautiful ornament

On Saturday night I was busy at work making baby shower favors (see previous post for details).  Once done with the favors, I decided to make a "Baby's 1st Christmas" ornament as a gift to the baby.  I was so proud of my creation, I wanted to take a picture of it to post. (Somewhere in the Bible it says, "pride comes before the fall.")  Well, I carefully tied a piece of ribbon so I can hang it to take my picture.  You guessed it.....I dropped it and glitter was everywhere and so my beautiful ornament was now a damaged ornament. Not worthy to be called a gift any longer. What a horrible feeling!  Such joy, such pride, such elation over my creation to be destroyed in an instant! boo-hoo-hoo! It was late (for me) and I didn't have the energy to try and make another one.
Here is a picture of the damaged ornament.

I will try to salvage the vinyl and use it on another.  YES! There will be another, and another.  I will not be brought down by one broken ornament.  (I will be experimenting with plastic ornaments next.)

Baby Shower Favors

I had the pleasure to help a friend with favors for her future grand-baby's shower.  She bought the bottles and filled them with hot cocoa mix.  She sent me a picture text of the bottles and said "this needs something."  I quickly volunteered to embelish them  Below is a picture of the finished product.  I had so much fun making them!  Notice the little touch of color on the baby's cheeks?  Too cute!  Anyone else out there need favors for a future occassion.  Give me time, and for a reasonable fee, I can accomodate.  Just email me.

On this favor, I used the Cricut Stretch Your Imagination cartridge, Cuttlebug embossing folders and Stampin' Up! markers and chalk.

Skateboard dude birthday card

My Pastor's son had an "Extreme" Birthday party so I had the to get the Cricut out and the Everyday Paperdolls cartridge and create!!!  The card turned out really cute.  The mom said the card was a "keeper".  She has it on her mantel!!!   Aw!!!! The joys of creating.

I used Everyday Paperdolls, Cuttlebug embossing folders, spray glitter mist, eyelets, ribbon and various cardstock.

Christmas ornament

I discovered these pretty & easy ornaments to make as gifts.  I think this will be our craft for our Thanksgiving get together with the Thorntons.  Clear ornaments, glitter, ribbon and Cricut vinyl.  More pictures to come.

Can you see what I changed on the glass block?

I can be rather obsessive at times.  I love the original glass block I made but there were just a few things bothering me about it so I corrected it.  Can you tell what it is?  Leave a comment if you do.
