12 month Scrapbook Challenge-February

Christina from Creations with Christina issued a challenge at the beginning of the year to get a layout done a month. I was an over-achiever and did two :)

These pictures are from 2007 and I am almost done with 2007's album.  It was a whirlwind of a year! We added to children to our family in a matter of months so that is why I am so behind but I will get caught up, right? RIGHT!

Church Children's Christmas program

Angel cut using Cricut Christmas cartridge...oops! the 'r' got turned over...sorry, I'll be fixing that!

Christmas morning

I mostly used Creative Memories paper and stickers I had on hand.  I used a few brads here there. Overall a quick couple of layouts

Smile Birthday Card/Crazy for Cricut Cahllenge

I had a couple of birthday cards to make. I got my inspiration from the card on this week's Cricut Chirp. The card posted in the chirp uses the Groovy cartridge which I don't have but I do have the smiley cartridge I got as a free download so I improvised. I think they turned out really cute.
This one was made for a 15 year old princess ::) The crown is made with silver DCWV Glitter paper. The flowers are Recollection flowers purchased at Michaels.  the "smile" was cut on Post-it Craft paper.  This paper is so cool because it has adhesive on the back.  I used the Spots and Dot Cuttlebug folder to emboss the purple bottom half.   The yellow smiley face is cut on glossy paper.  So cute!
I altered this Victoria Secret bag very quickly by using my EK Success border punch. I then stamped "It's your day" around the border.  The stamp is from an older Stampin' Up! stamp set.

This is similar to the one above except it is for a 50 year old princess :)  I used a Making Memories jewel brad as the center to the flower. Purchased those at Big Lots for less then a dollar! woo-hoo! cha-ching!  Used Post-it Craft paper to cut "Smile" and "50"  Another very easy to make, fun card.
I'm so excited to see my followers growing and its all thanks to "Gaby Creates"!  Big shout out to Gaby for hosting the Linking party!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my projects! I love to share!

I'm the Queen!

Good morning my cyber friends!

Well, we had a short taste of Spring but the cruelness of Winter has returned.  We are under a Winter Advisory here in the northern, midwest.  YUCK!!!! I'm so done!

One of my besties and I have this constant banter going on as to which of us is the "Queen of stuff" when it comes to scrapbooking.  Sometimes she is it and many times I am.  Well, I recently, and gladly, accepted the title since I own the Cricut Expression, Baby Bug and the Gypsy, along with all the cartridges (not as many as most of you though, lol!)  My friend, Melissa is for the most part a Creative Memories "purist" so she doesn't dabble much outside of what Creative Memories has to offer. Not me! I like to try new techniques, products, etc!

I recently picked up a pink hoodie at Joanns (clearance $6.97 minus 20%) and embroidered it so that the world will know that I AM the Queen! lol!  I'll skip all the hassles I went through trying to embroider it (I'm still pretty new to machine embroidery.)  I am happy with the finished product.  What do you all think?

I found the crown at Joanns also. Cute, huh?

TODAY! TODAY! TODAY! My IPAD is arriving TODAY!

Hello my blogging friends! On a previous post, I asked for some help with deciding whether or not I should "wait" or "buy now" the IPAD.  Well.......I gave in and bought it.  Here is a tidbit about me: I can get rather OBSESSIVE about new gadgets! (to put it mildly!)  I was checking EVERYDAY! to see what the latest rumors were about when the IPAD 2 was being announced  and then released.  Some rumors claimed it would be announced February 9th with an April release date. Others said it would be released in March.  I was trying so hard to hold out but February 9th came and went and since then the information got less and less and further away. I finally decided ":I was done!"  I was spending a tremendous amount of energy on this item.  So...on Wednesday, this week, all by myself, without talking to anyone, I went to Apple's site and ordered a refurbished IPAD for $70 less then retail.  Today is Friday, and did I tell you? It's coming TODAY!  I am so excited I don't want to leave the house for fear that I will miss the truck!  I still need help!!!!!! Mental help :)

To read about how I came about the money for this new toy check out: Happy Birthday to ME! Fabulous 50!

Have a GREAT day! I know I will! To top of the day, it's gonna be in the high 50s today.  All the snow has melted and it feels like Spring!  What a great day!

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what you think about my craziness.

Valentine for my hubby and My Pinkalicious Blog Hop Challenge

Here is the card I made for my honey for Valentine's day.  It just so happens to qualify for Robyn's My Pinkalicious Blog Hop.

I am rather pleased with the way this card turned out.  I originally planned on using the lips cut from Indie Art but the I came across the heart and key.  The phrase "you hold the key to my heart" came to mind and I knew that was it!.  I used DCWV Glitter Mat Stack I bought on clearance from Joanns to cut the heart, key and word.  The bling is from the $1 bin at Michaels.  The printed paper is from DCWV Formal and Wedding 8x8 stack, also purchased on clearance.  The Cricut cartridge used was Indie Art for the heart and key.  The word "love" was cut using Beyond Birthdays cartridge.  I got the Indie Art cartridge as a free download on my Gypsy, yay me!

My husband was very impressed! Oh, I almost forgot.  I wrote the phrase "You hold the key to my heart." inside the card. :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Let me know what you think.  Your comments make me smile.

Sweet, Simple and Fast Class Treats

Hi everyone!  How is life treating you?  I don't know about you but I am soooo ready for a glimpse of Spring!!  The sun has been shining the last couple of days which has been a nice treat but as soon as the snow melts it quickly becomes a sheet of ice.  Brrrr and Grrrr!

Enough of that! I have a 14 year old boy and a set of twins.  My twins have close to 30 kids in each class so that's alot of valentine treats to make.  I know some of you wonderful mothers hand make your kids' treats but that is alot!!! My 14 year has a smaller class and he really isn't interested in handing out valentines so I made these quick treats for him to take to his class.  Now, keep in mind, he is 14 and a boy, so frill and glitz is not his thing.  Which actually took the pressure off of me to make them extravagant.  He didn't even know I was making them because he would probably ask me not to  Now that they are done, he is okay with it.  Its the thought that counts right?

I used DCWV 8x8 Formal and Wedding Stack that I got at Joann's for $3.20!  It was on clearance and then I had an additional 20% coupon compliments to Joy from Obsessed with Scrapbooking. I cut them to 4x4 squares. I used my ATG gun to glue the sides together and one end. Crimped with my Fiskars Crimper Filled with Valentine M&Ms.  Cut the tags using the Tags, Bags and More Cartridge. Stamped with sentiment stamp I bought at Michaels for $1.  Viola! quick valentine treats!

Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think.  What would you have done to dress it up more?

I need help!!! Should I buy or should I wait? (Non scrappin' topic)

Hello my friends in the blogger sphere!  I don't know about you but I am a gadget freak!!! I have been trying to patiently wait to see if Apple announces it's new IPAD but it's killing me!!! I'm up on all the latest rumors (by the minute mind you).

I received for my 50th birthday enough money to buy the IPAD.  Just when I thought "a-ha! I can get this." The rumors started!  I though I could wait.  The other thing is that I can get one for $70 less then the normal asking price.

So what's your opinion/insight?  Share, please!  I need help!  Much appreciated!

Broken Heart Card-Smiley Cart.

My pastor and his wife recently lost a baby.  Our heart were broken for them.  Here is the card I made expressing our brokenness for them.  On the inside I will write "...that your heart has been broken."

I used cardstock I have had on hand for a lonnnnng time! The sentiment is from $1 stamp I picked up at Michaels specifically for this card.  It was perfect! I stamped it and cut around the design. The ribbon is from Michaels $1 ribbon bin.  I used the Cuttlebug hearts embossing folder. The broken heart cut is from the Smiley Cartridge available on the Gypsy.

This card was super simple to make.  At first I thought it was too plain but I am happy with it.  It communicates our heart without alot of glitz.  Sometimes simple is better.

What would you have added to the card? Let me know.  Thanks for stopping by.
